Last Friday at 10:45 a.m., the well known celebrity Justin Bieber was pulled over and cited for driving in a “reckless manner.”
Bieber was driving his Fisker Karma sports car when he was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol after going over 80mph as he tried to flee the paparazzi’s cameras.
Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis Zine was the one who called the police to report the incident stating that Bieber was being pursued by the paparazzi, making it unsafe for other drivers on the highway. Zine stated that he understands the problems celebrities have when out in public being followed by the paparazzi and has sponsored a city law to curb the aggressive behavior. Zine stated that it still isn’t an excuse to drive recklessly on the highway:
“He was going from the fast lane to the slow lane to the shoulder in traffic. It was a very dangerous driving situation. I figured someone was going to crash, so I called 911.”
Zine believes that the paparazzi should have also been pulled over and cited.
“This reminds me of the Princess Diana situation,” Zine said.
California Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident that occurred on the 101 Freeway in which paparazzi were chasing the pop star. A spokeswoman for the California Highway Patrol stated:
“We’re trying to obtain information with regard to the paparazzi so we can look into other violations that occurred as a result of their actions.”
